THE PROSPECTS AFTER CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

Abstract: Many short-term emergency measures will become a fixture of life. That is the nature of emergencies. They fast-forward historical processes. Decisions that in normal times could take years of deliberation are passed in a matter of hours. Immature
and even dangerous technologies are pressed into service, because the risks of doing
nothing are bigger.” Yuval Noah Harari, author of Sapiens
Keywords: Coronavirus Disease/COVID-19, lock down, health, Ozone layer, global
leadership role, blame game, world order.
Introduction: Social distancing and lockdown have deteriorated the mental health by
prompting anxiety, stress, anger and boredom. The pandemic brought severe financial
uncertainties, unemployment and has caused to increase in the inflation rate. There is
no traffic outside, but nor is it noise anymore, offices are locked, but the anxiety to go
to work is lesser, schools and colleges are closed, but family is together, there is no
carbon emission and according to scientists the ozone layer is healing almost rapidly
and has the potential to recover fully. The borders are sealed, but the world is now one
in order to fight the common enemy. The life is in isolation, but the humanity has
become borderless. The factories once were busy to pile up sophisticated and lethal
weapon are now ordered to prepare lifesaving equipment. Many essential things after
the Coronavirus outbreak are yet to happen and there might be more tough challenges,
fear, and hope as well.
Good or bad: During this pandemic along with dreadful lessons certain positive things
were observed. Officials are now working through an online platform, an idea to work
remotely and to get rid of paying huge rents of the office buildings and physical
presence in tight formal clothes/uniform. Even in a developing country like Pakistan,
the government officials are planning to launch a programme of online classes for the
school students and paying pensions on their doorsteps to the pensioners of Pakistan
Post, and doctors through ‘Telemedicine’ are now available online to treat the masses.
China has constructed a one thousand bedded hospital in only six days, the United
States has ordered its weapon manufacturing factories to prepare ventilators and other
electro-medical equipment. These are such brilliant ideas which could not be introduced
while in the normal life without the Coronavirus outbreak. Despite the allegations of
the virus conspiracy, doctors across the world are working in synergy to prepare a
vaccine for COVID-19. The head of the UN Department of Economic and Social
Affairs, Liu Zhenmin stated that, “As we face these grave challenges, we must remember that we are all in this together”. The governments are now financing in
public health and social wellbeing, and the world has put aside the arms race.
Global (powers’) response: It is a sour fact that the current economic, political and
monetary system, including the current order has failed to cope up with the pandemic.
The outbreak badly exposed the global leadership role of the United States and Europe
and could not lead the world during the crisis, even at the beginning of the outbreak the
United States played a blame game calling the Coronavirus “Wuhan virus”, today it
hosts more casualties than any other country. However, China has not only successfully
overcame it, but also lead the world to tackle with the situation and also provided the
world with guidance, moral and medical supply.
The impact on global order: In this particular period China has played a role which a
global power is expected to and which the United States and Europe could not. There
seems a shift in the global power in favour of China due to the apparent leadership role
of China while the lesser response from the United States during the coronavirus
outbreak. The theorists and the experts in the International Relations were talking about
the changing global order and after the coronavirus outbreak they seem the world order
has now changed. The Eastern countries, especially China, South Korea, Singapore
including other countries have responded well in the crisis while the United States and
Europe have severely failed to coup up with it. There might be an entire shift of global
order from the West to East which was already in the process as a result of the economic
and military rise of China.
Summary: The pandemic has for surely far-reaching consequences over our societies
and the entire world. Presently, on one hand, the coronavirus has created fear, panic
and uncertainties, however, on the other hand, it has given us a hope as well and the
ideas which we could not bring into practical in normal days. This pandemic has
developed a sense in us to identify our deficiencies those exist in our economic, political
system, monetary and even in our social system.

The woman who has been created by God with all kinds of freedom but in today's modern age woman is facing a lot of difficulties. Even today she is bound by principles. Even today she cannot live her life on her own. People today are talking about a woman who is free to do whatever she wants, but they are not talking about a girl who still can't claim her rights. Why ? I am going through this ordeal myself. I can't even ask for the happiness of my right. Even today, women are facing many difficulties due to the small thinking of the big families.
There will never be new world until women
are a part of it.
By Alice Paul
Even today every girl is asked to change. Why? Even today the girl is not given her rights. I live in the same country where still women are raped, where through acid on her face, where still they are uneducated, where they are still murdered because of love marriage. It's a humble request to all, please give all right's of women and at the end i would like to say to every girl please don't let yourself down.Take a stand for yourself, do whatever you want to do in your life. Never give a chance to anyone to control you.
Love yourself First, and everything else fall into line,
you really have to love yourself to get anything done
in this world.
Is PM Imran still your leader?
Alot of promises have been made by the pm imran khan before the elections. But now, is it ok that you just give youth sector good speeches and more promises of bright future? Today, the youth of Pakistan stands at the edge of hopelessness because there are no chances of new jobs and better lifestyle in near future. With your so called corrupt cabinet ministers how you can change the future of Pakistan dear PM? Economy, judiciary, education, social issues all are at there worse stage. With this performance Mr. prime minister how would you expect from your youth to stand with you and support you just like in past?
A complete work of literature is constituted by both, aesthetics and content. However, in my opinion content is a factor, which is far more important than aesthetics as it makes the work more notable and appealing to the readers.
Aesthetics might be pleasing to the eye and hence readers might end up buying the book but content keeps the readers interested and engaged. If the content of the book were poor, it would only lead to the reader being disappointed after he/she got his hopes high by merely looking at the cover.
Looking into book covers in specific, they can be deceiving as the cover might fail to represent the content of the book. In my opinion a book cover is supposed to personify in an image, the main theme of the book. It is supposed to distinguish its uniqueness from other books of the same theme. However if we take an example of the book “ When You Were Mine”, the cover clearly suggests that this book is a love story but it doesn’t give information about the book and looks like any other love story. If someone buys a book only on the basis of a cover, in this case he/she could buy any love story and it shouldn’t make a difference to them.
A literature book never is never popular because of its aesthetics, but only because of its content. If we take an example of great literature books such as “Pride and Prejudice”, “The Great Gatsby” Etc. are not known for their covers but their content. The fact that there could be several book covers for a book but there is always ONE text magnifies the importance of content as compared to the cover. There are no modifications of the entire content as time progress, but illustrators do not hesitate in changing covers, they know it won’t create such an impact, as covers aren’t as important.
Different forms of publication such as EBooks can encourage a wider range of audience to read the book. This is proven by the fact that in 2012 80,000 Ebooks of the Great Gatsby were sold, and in this year a total of 125,000 has been surpassed. Ebooks will encourage kids of new generation to read as they are used to and familiar with electronics. The form of publication has a greater impact than book covers as it encourages a wider range of audience without any deceptions. Readers are reading the same text, but interacting with it in a different way.
In my opinion, it is absolutely absurd to think that the materials used in a book constitutes to a complete work of literature. Literature books are not books targeted for audiences, which are appealed by the type of paper, its thickness and especially it its glossy or not. They are purely read for content.
By this perspective we can deduce that indeed, “A book should not be judged by its cover”, but based on its content. By taking in account other factors to constitute what a complete literature work will only lead to choosing the wrong book.
2.) Original work, creates more impact on the readers rather than just an extract taken from the original work it’s self. While reading the entire text, the context gets developed along with it. Every action, line and the character’s attitudes all revolves around the context. In extracts, there is nothing more than a few lines from the text without context. A person who has only read the extract rather than the entire text will most likely have a different perspective on characters as he can only judge by the limited information in the extract without any information on why they are acting the way they are and what got them in the situation, presented in the extract. Knowing the context and the background story the readers can make an informed judgment and perceive the decisions and actions of characters in a different way.
An example of this can be taken from “The Great Gatsby”. In the beginning of the book Nick claims he doesn’t judge people by saying ”... In consequence I’m inclined to reserve all judgments, a habit that has opened my curious natures to me…….” By reading this it is obvious that Nick is a character who “reserves all judgment”, however if lines besides this extract were read where he was making his claim, the reader would come to know that this is false. The readers would now know that with Nick narrating the story it could arguably be bias, which would lead to readers perceiving texts in a different way rather than Nicks. Hence, because of reading the whole book a person can argue was Gatsby really great or was he only great in Nicks eyes? If the readers had only read the extract of how he reserves all judgments they wouldn’t argue about the question as deeply, as they think he “reserves all judgments”. Another example is at the end of the book when George shoots Gatsby. If only this extract was read readers would perceive George as a cruel man, but if the entire book was read it can be seen that it wasn’t his fault but Daisy’s fault.
These arguments show that when the entire book is read more informed decisions can be made my readers, and analyzing characters throughout the book certainly constitutes to a complete work in literature rather judging them on extracts.
Why do you think that we are fairly good at understanding and curing physical illnesses, but are rather poor at understanding and curing mental illnesses?
- In the context of the question, Physical illnesses can be perceived as “Natural Sciences”, while mental illnesses can be perceived as “Human Sciences”
- Physical illnessesà visually seen, hence more obviousà As a result of consistent patterns in healing and very similar symptoms it has been understood more thoroughlyà More awareness and education due to regular patterns, hence easily curable.
- Mental illnessesà isn’t taken seriously as compared to physical illnesses, as it cannot be seenà Depth of the illness can only be measured, by perceptionà not accurateà Mental illnesses have irregular patternsà This is due to the mental state of each person. Patterns are influenced byà experiences in a persons life, hence they are different for everyoneà Hence it isn’t practical to examine every person and come to an accurate conclusion (cure).
- Social pressureà another important factor why mental illnesses are poorly understood. People do not admit that they have mental illnessà Society perceives them as “weak”. With such few samplesà limited number of observation are made, further limiting our understanding.
- However, due to the improvement of technology, steps are being taken to improve our understanding of mental illnessesà For example: Observing how chemicals in the brain trigger an emotional response etcà Data is being collected to ensure a cure for mental illnesses.
- In conclusionà Mental illnesses should be taken seriously as 8 million people lose their lives to ità As technology improves cures will definitely be madeà Categorizing people with the same illnesses and similar background, will help deduce consist patterns, which can give us a better understanding.
Is Internet seen as a positive influence?
Internet has been prevalent for years in this global society and it has its share of pros and cons. The Internet is now an integral part of our everyday lives.
Yes, Internet is seen as a positive influence; it has loads of benefits and opportunities that it provides. Firstly what is the Internet? In simple term it is network of interconnected computer networking worldwide, which is accessible to the general public.
This global network provides diversity of information and communication provisions that use standardized communication protocols. In pervious times, mostly people used Internet to search for information. Nowadays Internet is a constantly evolving tool that not only contains an amazing variety of information but that also provides new ways of accessing, interacting and connecting with people and content.
The Internet has made the world a smaller place. It has also helped people to become more anonymous in their interactions with others, which have created a certain level of conflict that didn’t exist in the past. There are many pros and cons of the Internet that worth taking into account.
The Internet and social media provide young people with a range of benefits, and opportunities to empower themselves in a variety of ways. Young people can maintain social connections and support networks that otherwise wouldn't be possible, and can access more information than ever before.
According to this bar graph by ITU Telecommunication, Internet is very common globally and the usage is rapidly increasing with time as shown. The Internet has been one of our most transformative and fast-growing technologies, which is not only locally spreading but globally.
The Internet Statistics for 2020: There are currently over 4.33 billion active Internet users worldwide. 57 percent of the entire world's population has Internet access. There are 3.9 billion unique mobile Internet users worldwide, which makes up 51 percent of the global population.
The Internet is one of the substantial creations and provides people with immediate access to an endless supply of knowledge and entertainment. As Internet has so much information of every type, people can search for anything on search engines like Google. We can virtually ask question related to any topic and we will see loads of websites answering them, there is so much of learning on the Internet. There are so many video sites like YouTube that has video tutorials and online courses that help you teach about many subjects, so basically there is so much information, knowledge and learning with the use of Internet.
In earlier days, communication used to be very difficult and a letter would takes days or weeks to deliver a message.
Nowadays with the facility of Internet we can use
E-Mail (electronic mail) and several other communication methods and deliver the message in seconds or minutes. Communication is made easier and efficient by the use of Internet.
Social media refers to websites and applications that are designed to allow people to share content quickly and efficiently, The ability to share photos, opinions, events, etc. in real-time has transformed the way we live and, also, the way we do business. The use of social media and services such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat have become an integral part of peoples life globally. A literature review published by the (Young and Well research) found that social networking services actually play a vital role for in young people’s lives by delivering educational outcomes; promoting a sense of belonging and self-esteem.
Internet is not behind making peoples life easier, GPS (global positioning system) this technology helps navigate places and can direct you to any place you want. People can even access their bank accounts from the Internet, the bills can be also easily paid through the Internet which is very feasible to businessmen and other people. Internet also gives you access to Online shopping, you choose and get the things online then they are delivered to the designated place, it saves a lot of time and effort. Businesses have a big advantage with the facility of the Internet; a business can sell goods and services anywhere at anytime through Internet because it is always available to people globally. The Internet also provides businesses to advertise their product or service everywhere in the world locally, nationally or internationally.
The Internet provides people ability to work from home as in a virtual office and have access to global work force, more efficient and saves time and effort.
With access to a wide audience people can easily donate to the charity they want that will help people in need all around the world and they can help fund projects which their interested in.
Internet has definitely taken the entertainment to next level. Previously, the people used to get entertainment through televisions and movie theaters, sometimes cricket stadiums. But, now a days all the shows, movies and matches are available live so people can watch those shows if they have some problem with cable connections. Moreover, if we missed a particular show we have apps to watch those shows fully with the help of Internet with reduced advertisements compared to those in televisions. They can watch their favorite entertainment programs any number of times they wish for. If a person is bored and wants some entertainment the best thing is that he should go online because the Internet has lots of stuff that can keep a person entertained like online games, movies, tv shows, documentaries and so much interesting stuff that would not let a person be bored. People can go on the internet and make friends from all over the world talk to them and pass their time and learn stuff this increases socialization.
When it comes to entertainment, the Internet functions best as a resource for entertainment information and distribution, not as entertainment itself.
There is no doubt that the Internet is very beneficial to people globally and gives unlimited opportunities to people of ever field.
